I'm like you. I build beautiful cities that my Sims love but they hemorrhage money. Some of us really need those money cheats. I hate managing money in my real life, so I certainly don't want to play a game that depends on me doing it. I don't find that fun at all. Frankly, I don't know why nobody's figured out how to build a similar all-around cheat mod for Mac, but what are you gonna do? We can't do anything about mods that require a.dll, but there are mods that can take the place of some of the missing cheats.
There are money trees and so on to give you a slight cash boost, and the ones without.dll's usually work even if you're on a Mac (as I am). But if you're tired of wearing your hand out with 'weaknesspays' and you want more money than you know what to do with, check out Azul's Max Money mod here on the STEX and you'll never have to worry about money again. Every city you create will start up with enough cash to run a country the size of the United States for a couple of centuries. The link is: Actually, there are two Azul money mods, one for if you just want a little more startup cash and the other for maxing out your money to $999,999,999,999,999, giving your city hundreds of trillions of dollars and pretty much removing the need for money from your city forever. If you use it, be sure to leave a big thank you in the comments for Azul, because she created a truly wonderful mod and the commenters there were really mean to her and flamed her mercilessly for making it, as if she took all the fun out of the game.
I don't get it. I think this mod is the greatest thing since pockets and sliced bread. If you don't want that much money, then don't install the modproblem solved.
Anyway, just search the STEX for 'Azul' and you'll find both mods. Understand that the Max Money mod is absolutely no fun if you want to run the game as it was designed to be played.
Once you save that city, it's stuck with all that money forever. But personally, I really love sandboxing, using the PlopModd mod to plop my buildings one by one instead of zoning. It makes the game more like building an animated architectural model of a city instead of building a working, well-balanced, functioning city. I can landscape, build, destroy and rebuild all I want without worrying about money and I can plop houses, lodges, landmarks and mansions down and make them look (and stay) the way I want them to look, with acres of hiking paths, streams and wooded areas around them as part of the property. What's the point of having infinite money? Well for one thing, it makes it possible to design whatever I imagine without worrying about money.
And I can force the spaces I design stay the way I designed them, rather than having them deteriorate into slums because I screwed up the money. I prefer to plop rather than zone, so I really don't want to care about money. If you're into sandboxing as I am, its a 'must have' mod. Combined with the NAM for more realistic roads and traffic, and tree and terrain mods for a more realistic landscape, you can build whatever your mind can imagine. Using Revit's Coastal Mod for realistic beaches and water colors (real white/pink/black sand beaches, Caribbean azure (blue-green) oceans, murky pond water, muddy river waters, etc.) and NBVC's water props (for coral reefs, dolphins, driftwood, sailboats, etc.), you can use that money to create world class beaches with hotels, high-rises and so on right away without having to wait and hope that they'll grow.
JENX also has a killer wave generator mod for creating tiny water ripples so your ponds, streams, rivers and oceans behave more like real water. They can be very RAM intensive so use them VERY sparingly or you'll crash, but for realism they're well worth it. For me, creating beautiful neighborhoods, cities and countrysides is infinitely more satisfying than playing mayor, and way more relaxing than having a bunch of tiresome simcitizens constantly nagging me for stuff they want that I can't afford. I have a child to do that for me in my real life. So not having to deal with managing money is ideal for my style of game play.but that's just me. I guess if we want Mac mods, we'll have to start designing them ourselves.
But I too find it hard to understand why there's not more development for Mac, especially since the original SimCity started out as a Mac-only game. I've been loving this game since it came out in the late 1980's back when there was no Windows, just DOS, and I played it on my MacPlus with the tiny little six-inch screen. Odd that Maxis would show so little loyalty or respect to the Mac users who gave their company its start. Thank You for the Continued Support! I am pulling my hair out on this one. I save all of my Steam game local files on an external hard drive (it took me some time and delicacy to get this working, but it's been working without a problem for almost a year now). However, I can't get the Civ6 mods to show up on the menu. I have tried loading them in an Application Support file that resides near the folder on my external hard drive where my local game files are stored. I've tried to put them in the regular library/Application Support folders on my computers internal hard drive. Again, no luck.
I've searched to find other library folders in case I inadvertently saved files somewhere I didn't intend. I'm feeling very deprived at not being able to enjoy some of the awesome Mods out there that seem poised to address some of the weaknesses of Civ6. Anyone have any ideas for me? Thanks in advance! Do you know how it failed for that user? There doesn't seem to be any detail in the Cabello's comment on your mod page in the Steam Workshop. I've Subscribed to Jedi in the Steam Civ6 Workshop on my Mac, and it has appeared in my /Library/Steam/SteamApps/workshop folder.
I launched Civ6 and checked in Additional Content, and it shows up there as Enabled. I selected Single Player from the Main Menu and clicked Create Game.
I selected Lexindri as the Leader and clicked Start Game. After the usual delay, the game loaded and I was able to play. Here is a screen image during the first turn. I can't see anything wrong?
